Student Projects

Student Projects Subcommittee

The Student Projects Subcommittee is a curatorial project of the Hart House Art Committee, aimed at providing the means and space to showcase work from University of Toronto community members (i.e. students, recent alumni). Student exhibitions along the Hart House walls allow for the physical display of artwork, while the art markets will provide a space for creatives to showcase their crafts. The Art at Hart website expands this reach even further by creating space for unconventional mediums and providing access beyond the three campuses.

Acquisitions Subcommittee

The Acquisitions Subcommittee is tasked with researching and selecting artworks to be acquired for the Hart House Art Collection. It is an imperative part of the subcommittee’s mission to acquire works by artists from groups of people who have been unjustly underrepresented in the Hart House Art Collection. This includes work by women, BIPOC artists and members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, among other groups, who have been historically excluded from major institutions like Hart House. Through our efforts, we aim to initiate reparations and foster representation within our institution.

Education & Outreach
Subcommittee

The Education and Outreach Subcommittee serves as a direct point of engagement for all Hart House members. They plan accessible and educational events that further help to connect U of T students with the art world outside of the campus. This subcommittee is tasked with running our artwork workshops, engaging students, and providing invaluable experiences for them to expand their art making and promoting skills. Our yearly artWORK conference serves as a networking event, and a terrific opportunity for students to receive advice, assistance, and new ideas concerning their paths after leaving U of T.
